Physician Liaison
The physician liaison serves as a key point of contact for referring physician offices assisting them with any special concerns or needs they may have related to ordering a diagnostic imaging study for their patients. Working closely with each physician’s referral coordinator and VMI’s scheduler, the referring physician liaison helps coordinate patient benefits including the Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) forms required by Medi-Cal. In addition, the referring physician liaison educates the medical community about the value of and proper use of diagnostic imaging studies and provides physician offices with educational tools to support them in discussing PET/CT with their patients. |

Technologists
Because every patient is unique, custom planning and careful consideration goes into every imaging study conducted at VMI. Our technologists are specialists in advanced imaging technology and work in close consultation with VMI physicians to design the appropriate protocol for each patient. Their extensive training, skills and licensure makes them uniquely qualified to administer the special radiopharmaceuticals used in PET imaging and to operate our highly specialized equipment. When you arrive in the scanning room, your technologist will assist you onto the scanning table and carefully position you to obtain the clearest images possible. Your procedure will be reviewed with you and the technologist will provide instruction to you via intercom during each portion of the exam monitoring your safety and comfort at all times. |

Technologist Assistants
Our technologist assistants work closely with each patient to support them through their procedure helping to make the process as easy as possible. When it is time for your imaging study, you will be greeted and accompanied by a technologist assistant who will help prepare you for your procedure. They will review your medical and treatment history with you and serve as your guide throughout the exam process. At the conclusion of your imaging study, the technologist assistant will process your files and promptly submit them for review by one of VMI’s physicians. Your report will be completed and delivered to your physician, usually within 24 hours, who will set an appointment to review the results with you. |

Scheduler/Receptionists
The scheduler is responsible for coordinating all patient appointments and helps ensure quick and easy access to our services. When physicians call to make a referral, our scheduler is ready and eager to help – providing prompt appointments, accommodating urgent needs and assisting with obtaining insurance authorization whenever possible. In preparation for your exam, the scheduler will provide you with vital instructions including what contrast agents will be administered, how to dress and what is permissible to eat. Our schedulers are the friendly faces that are always ready to greet you with a warm hello when you arrive. |
